The Wardle Home

An Individualized Plan is developed based on input from each adolescent girl and a multi-disciplinary team comprised of her parents/guardians, Theresa Wardle and any consulting professionals such as therapists, psychiatrists, educational consultants, or teachers. 

Individualized Plans are beneficial because they:

• adapt to each child's specific needs, level of maturity, progress to date and identified goals
• build on success to date, such as progress in wilderness programs, previous therapy or placements
• expand or limit privileges and activities based on day to day choices
• accommodate amount of communication and visitation with family based on each family's needs
• increase self-worth as each girl may participate in activities that highlight her own strengths while building skills

“Thank you hardly seems enough to say for all you have done for Kelly (and me) this year.  I cannot think of anyone whom I would trust more with the life of my beloved Kelly than you….In working with you, I’ve gotten to experience your wisdom, compassion, commitment to Kelly, kindness, and your knowledge.  You have helped me to grow in many ways – as a mother to a young adult, in understanding Kelly and in realizing the boundary between my love for my daughter and what she needs.  I know the relationship between Kelly and me has grown because of your work with both of us.  This is a gift to us which I hope will last a lifetime.  It takes a village to raise a child.  This year Kelly had her village.  With you and Patrick, she was loved.  Please thank Patrick for the care he showed Kelly this year.  I believe he played a very important role for Kelly, that of a father...Together you and him have helped Kelly shed the layer of guilt that so constricted her.  Both of you helped Kelly to face poor choices in a way that always affirmed her self worth.  I believe she is stronger in knowing what she wants, what she stands for and most important, in seeing her own self worth.  What is also wonderful for Kelly is her relationship with you.  Theresa you are such a role model for my daughter.  I thank you for all the talks you had with her, for the wisdom she heard from you, the love she felt, your guidance and for your experience with her.  I know Kelly will miss you.  I will too.  We have both been blessed to have you in our lives."  (2005 - parent letter with student's name changed)
