A FAMILY HOME

Theresa and Patrick Wardle have created a warm, nurturing environment for adolescent girls with emotional, behavioral, developmental and/or relationship difficulties. Since 2002, their home on 35 acres in beautiful North Idaho has offered a structured, therapeutic level of care where girls participate in therapy, academics, community-based experiences and multiple forms of recreation.

Theresa is a licensed therapist who has specialized in working with adolescents for over eleven years, including  individual, family and group therapy, as well as extensive training in attachment and trauma issues. Theresa’s supportive and non-judgmental approach, combined with her understanding of adolescent development and behavior, empowers young women to recognize their strengths and develop skills to make positive choices.

Patrick is a self-employed builder who enjoys the outdoors, raising animals and helping adolescents with experiential, hands-on projects. Along with his light hearted humor and common sense approach, Patrick’s caring and understanding nature is an integral part of the family environment.

“You will never know how much your kindness and patience with all of us has guided us thru a tough alley.  God has blessed your family with skills and gifts that are indescribable for a family that has been on such an amazing journey!  You are the best thing that has happened to us in years.  Many thanks!”  (2003 - parent letter)

Therapeutic home care is appropriate for girls who may struggle with depression, anxiety, other mood disorders, self-defeating behaviors, ADHD, substance abuse, unstable relationships, low self-esteem, attachment issues, unresolved trauma, learning disabilities and/or deteriorating academic performance.

The Wardle Home is also ideal for girls who have lived in other therapeutic schools or programs and are ready for a transition program to prepare them for the next phase of life - whether it is returning home, starting college or more independent living.

The Wardles are licensed and approved for care by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

"Thank you so much for being my inspiration.  I wouldn't be where I am today without your help & support.  Thank you for believing in me - it means more than you'll ever know!  I love you, miss you and think about ya'll often."  (2007 - student letter sent two years after departure)
